Masterclass with La quarta corda – Ritual LAB – Rome (Italy)
January 19 @ 10:00 - January 20 @ 18:00€200
This workshop is an intensive introductory class about La quarta corda style and techniques.
We’ll study many ties – from single column tie to suspensions – undestanding their technical structure, aestetics, who to use them in floorwork and in suspensions.
In the first day we’ll focus on La quarta corda harnesses – including the gote. In these structures traditional kinbaku aestetics and techniques meet original technical solutions in order to create safe and versatile ties.
In the second day we’ll study some suspensions with unusual techniques like unusual suspension points, single line suspension, transitions, etc.
LA QUARTA CORDA STYLE
The La quarta corda style is inspired by traditional Japanese shibari and it’s mainly influenced by two important nawashi, Akira Naka and Haruki Yukimura, with whom Andrea took lessons on his journeys to Tokyo.
Communication is the focus of this system where tradition and technical innovations are mixed together.
Today La quarta corda is appreciated for elegance, originality and ability in using ropes in a extremely empathetic way; traditional aestetics melts with techniques developped in order to increase functionality, safety and communication with the bottom.
