We all have expectations that we project onto things all the time, we expect things: from other people, from work, from the world we live in, and even from ourselves, because others also have expectations for us that we internalise.

Expectations are very important to contextualise our relationships with others and to live in the world.

They are essential in trying to predict how things will turn out, they help us reduce the anxiety we feel towards the unpredictability of people and the surrounding reality.

A bit of intuition is useful, but, when we excessively generalise and deduce, disappointment is behind the corner, for us and for our partner.
